I joined Angie at the table and mixed a cup for myself. I leaned my head back and sighed. It really was a cozy mix of flavor and cream.

“Do you have anybody else in town?” I considered Angie a friend, but I realized I didn’t know much about her. She’d started coming to the store a year ago when she first married Michael and moved across the street from Jackie.

“No. My relatives live out west. Sometimes I wish I still lived there. I hate the wintry days all alone.”

“Maybe you need a pet to keep you company,” I suggested.
